Liverpool snatch win over Chelsea ~ aljazeera

Fernando Torres scored two late goals to give Liverpool a 2-0 victory over 10-man Chelsea on Sunday that kept the Reds firmly in the race for the English Premier League title.

As a fourth successive league draw loomed, Torres met Fabio Aurelio's cross with a glancing header at the near post in the 89th minute.

The Spain striker, who missed December with a hamstring injury, added his second goal in stoppage time, calmly slotting past Petr Cech after Yossi Benayoun was tackled by Chelsea defender Ashley Cole. ~aljazeera

'No apology' from Iraq shoe-thrower - al-Jazeera

Muntazer al-Zaidi, the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at George Bush, the US president, has said that he will not apologise for his act, amid reports from his lawyer that he has been severely beaten in custody.

Dhiya'a al-Sa'adi, al-Zaidi's lawyer, told Al Jazeera on Monday: "Muntazer al-Zaidi considers what he did when he threw his shoes at President Bush as exercising his freedom of expression, in opposing and rejecting the occupation, which has brought misery to Iraq."

Al-Sa'adi said al-Zaidi was not considering giving an apology to the US president, "not now, nor in the future".
